 History

The Yarmy Barmy Army was initially started by a group of six supporters who decided to go to the local Derby Match between Gorleston and Great Yarmouth Town FC, on Boxing Day 2007.  The attendance was the best all year and we added to the atmosphere. We would have left it at that, but the following Friday we read the match report in the Mercury and were asked to come back and support Yarmouth, so we did and the numbers continued to rise week by week, We now have over 20 members in the Yarmy Barmy Army.

The first away game we were able to attend was at Diss in the early part of 2008; as the team coach was not available at that time we travelled in style and were given lifts with the Chairman of Great Yarmouth Town FC and managing staff. Although we lost that particular game we had a great day and the majority of the Diss fans said it was the best support they have ever seen at their ground. Since that game we have been welcomed on to the team coach and now feel a real and active part of  Great Yarmouth Town FC.

With the proceeds of membership fees we have invested in the purchase of a drum which helps us to get the atmosphere going both home and away. Our most noticeable icon is our Yarmy Barmy Army flag, which was kindly made by one of our parents.
