Bloaters Singing in the Rain!

Wednesday 21st October 2009

Bloaters 5, Kirkley & Pakefield 2

The Bloaters hosted Kirkley & Pakefield at a rain lashed Wellesley and ran out convincing 5-2 winners. It was the vistors who opened the scoring after 15 minutes after the striker was put through and outpaced the defence to poke the ball past the advancing Chris Bird.

The goal seemed to kick Yarmouth into life and Lee Roscoe had a shot which the keeper did tremendously well to tip over. From the resulting corner Simeon Lee thumped an effort against the bar and Jacob Maitland had two strikes from distance that just dipped over. Yarmouth were now well on top and it wasn't a surprise when they scored the equaliser. A free kick just outside the box was played in at pace by man of the match Ross Catchpole and turned in by in form striker Joshua Trett.

Within minutes Yarmouth had taken the lead. This time, another Catchpole free kick was deflected in by the unfortunate Kirkley & Pakefield defender. A minute before the break it was 3 through the best goal of the game. Jacob Maitland went on a mazy run beating player after player and after getting to the box he laid the ball off to Joaquim Sisse who finished in style.

The second half saw Roscoe win and score a penalty, only for Kirkley & Pakefield to reduce the deficit again with a goal of their own. And with the game coming to a conclusion there was still time for Trett to score his second of the game, turning in the box and firing across the keeper to ensure a great 5-2 victory.

Yarmouth - Bird, Bari, Short, Lee, Pullin, Roscoe, Catchpole, Maitland, Blanch, Trett, Siss. Subs: Burgess, Woodgate, Baker.
