Ressies up to fifth

Saturday 31st October 2009

Norwich United Res 0, Bloaters Res 2

Two goals by Mark Thompson gave the Bloaters Reserves their eighth consecutive victory this season. They moved up to fifth place and are the last remaining team in their division with a 100% record.

The first goal, in the first half, was a spectacular, well-executed lob from all of 35 yards. The second after half time came after Joachim Sisse beat his man and crossed for Thompson to slide the ball in.

Assistant manager Andy Deeley said: “We could have won by more. Thommo hit one straight at the ‘keeper and Swan (Sisse) put one just past the post. But we never looked like conceding. George Brooks and Jacob Maitland ran the show from the middle of the park (Plantation Park). It was our first game against one of the top teams and the boys rose to the occasion

“Both Thommo’s goals were just great and all  the boys’ workrate was phenomenal. Jake Sharp came into goal when Blaine (Lowthorpe) called off sick and was brilliant, he came for everything.

“We must also thank Leon Tomasso for physio duties; he’s a student in this field and came to us through Mazze (Marianne McNally, first team physio) so thanks to her too.”

Team – J Sharp, J Miller, S Watts, J Watt, E Short, J Sisse, J Maitland, G Brooks, L Greening, V Formoso, M Thompson. Subs: D Burgess, D Barnes, R Catchpole.
