Bloaters 2, Norwich United 1
The Bloater's were up against table toppers and previously unbeaten Norwich United at the Wellesley. With a strong wind at their backs the Bloaters were in the ascendancy for the first half and although they went in at the break a goal to the good they were disappointed it wasn't more. Chance after chance came and went until Lee Roscoe scored a terrific volley from 30 yards after half an hour. The ball hung in the wind from Norwich United keeper Kai Hewitt's kick and Roscoe took it on his chest and unleashed a ferocious strike that sailed in back over the keeper. Joaquim Sisse hit the bar, George Brooks had a couple of long range efforts and Roscoe fired over from six yards.
In the second half it was Norwich United that had the benefit of the wind; however it was Yarmouth that scored next. This time it was ex-Planter Adam Blanch who scored and it was within minutes of the restart. Blanch ran onto a great Brooks ball before firing past the advancing keeper.
Norwich United’s response was immediate and they got themselves back in to the game through a disputed penalty. Declan Harvey was adjudged to have handled a Norwich United free kick into the area. However, Jordan Rocastle had his penalty brilliantly saved by Jake Sharpe but when Rocastle reacted first to the rebound he blasted the ball past the desperately unlucky Sharpe. The Bloaters were expecting a Norwich United onslaught but it never materialised and but for some good ‘keeping and some goal line clearances Yarmouth could well have won this game more convincingly.
