Youngsters through in League Cup

Sunday 29th November 2009

Bloaters 1, Gorleston Rangers ‘A’ 0

  League Cup 2nd round

Great Yarmouth Town U10 hosted Gorleston Rangers A, in the 2nd round of the League Cup on Sunday. In a game played by two top teams it was a close encounter. Yarmouth started the more brightly, had the better of the opening exchanges and had the upper hand throughout the first half; they were unlucky not to score.

In the second half, Rangers came back into the game and put Yarmouth under pressure throughout but Yarmouth stood firm all over the park and Rangers could not find away through. With the game heading for a penalty shoot out, Rodwell played a ball through to Wallis who in turn turned and squeezed a shot under the visiting goalkeeper.

Yarmouth were at full strength with Josh Swanston playing excellently in goal, the defence of Kyle Haylock & Alex Sawyer tremendous at the back, Callum Aizlewood, Jordan Rodwell, Bobby Jex, Archie Wallis & Owen Wright were awesome in the midfield, Thomas Hunter a constant threat up top and utility man Thomas Sims played his best game for some time with a terrific display. Credit goes to both teams for a great game of football. Final Score, Yarmouth 1, Rangers A 0. Scorer Archie Wallis. MOM Whole squad.
