Harford defeated in cup at second attempt

Wednesday 9th December 2009

Bloaters 3,  Harford Tornadoes 1

At the second time of trying Yarmouth played Harford Tornadoes in their League Cup match after the first meeting between the two sides was abandoned at half time due to floodlight failure.

The Bloaters started off brightly and were two up inside the first ten minutes. Jacob Maitland was first on the score sheet after volleying in a Ross Catchpole corner in the very first attack. Lee Roscoe was next: Roscoe ran onto an Adam Blanch flick-on, beat the last defender and placed a shot across the keeper into the corner of the net. The Bloaters continued to dominate but the first half saw no further goals.

The second half started out a more even affair and Harford got themselves back into the match after 65 minutes. A cross into the box was turned in by their striker giving Craig Lambert no chance. The Bloaters restored their two goal cushion after Joshua Trett scored a header from a corner after a Joaquim Sisse delivery put the ball on a plate for the Yarmouth striker.

Further chances came and went and Roscoe was extremely unlucky not to score his second after his long range shot was tipped onto and over the bar by the Harford keeper. The Bloaters now have a difficult tie away to Dereham in the New Year.

Squad: Lambert, Howe, Silva, Pullin, Harvey, Baker, Catchpole, Maitland, Blanch, Roscoe, Sisse. Subs: Trett (for Maitland), Bari (for Silva) & Burgess (for Baker) Unused: Sharpe
