Young Crabs Scuttled

Thursday 28th January 2010

Cromer 0, Great Yarmouth 3

Yarmouth played Cromer on a boggy pitch and the constant rain didn't help proceedings. However, it was the Bloaters that took the game by the scruff of the neck after Ross Catchpole fired them into an early lead. Catchpole picked up a loose ball in the box and fired low past the keeper.

On the half hour mark, Kieran Bartley was in a one on one with the defender, and Bartley's strength saw him come out on top and coolly keep his nerve to make the score 2-0.

No game seems to be complete without the customary ‘cracker’ from Lee Roscoe and ten minutes into the second half Roscoe was at it again. A free kick to Yarmouth saw George Brookes rolling the ball into Roscoe's path. One touch, followed by a great right foot strike from distance put the game beyond Cromer and Yarmouth three up.

The game saw young keeper Jake 'Archie' Jessop make his debut for the club coming on in the 25th minute for the injured Craig Lambert. Jessop was superb and grew in confidence from his early touches and certainly looks another who has a good future at the club.

Team - Craig Lambert, Eddie Short, Kris Howe, Declan Harvey, Adam Blanch, Ross Catchpole, Lee Roscoe, George Brooks, Kieran Bartley, Danny Burgess, Joshua Trett. Subs: Jake Jessop & George Barnden. Scorers: Ross Catchpole, Kieran Bartley & Lee Roscoe
